BARRINGTON EDUCATION FOUNDATION (BEF)
TO HOLD TWELFTH ANNUAL TELETHON IN MARCH

BARRINGTON, RHODE ISLAND:     The Barrington Education Foundation (BEF) will hold its twelfth annual Telethon on the evenings of March 6 and 7, 2007. Telethon co-chairs Maria Barry and Nancy Burlingame, along with Brad Faxon, Honorary Chair for the BEF Telethon, are looking forward to another successful event this year. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser contribute to more than half of the total funds raised by BEF each year. This year, BEF has funded such innovative grants and programs as:
  • Funding for a local history activity workbook to be used district-wide by 3rd grade classes.
  • Funding for six outdoor fitness stations for use by mileage club and entire community, at Nayatt School.
  • Funding for two sound field FM amplification systems to enhance student learning and behavior in the classroom, for Primrose Hill School.
  • Funding for a 30-station Neo-Smart Computer Mobile Lab, providing word processing keyboards to enhance student creative writing options, at Hampden Meadows School.
  • Funding for eleven LCD projectors for Social Studies classrooms at Barrington Middle School, to enhance multimedia opportunities provided by the new Social Studies curriculum.
  • Funding for the Katie Brown Educational Program at Barrington High School, to provide a dating violence training program for BHS staff supporting the Health curriculum.

Founded in 1992, BEF is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to the support and enrichment of all students within the Barrington Public Schools. Since its inception, BEF has awarded over $600,000 in support of this mission. Thousands of BEF supporters in the community will be contacted during the Telethon. Donations may also be made through the United Way. All pledges and donations are tax-deductible.
